Privacy Policy
Effective 2026.08.29. This policy explains what personal information KEI collects through this website, why, and for how long.
This text describes the site’s actual data handling but has not yet been reviewed by counsel, and the operator details below are unconfirmed. It must be finalised before the site goes live.
1. Information we collect
We collect personal information in one place only: the contact form on this website. When you submit that form we collect the following.
- Required: name, email address, message content.
- Optional: organization, subject line.
- Generated automatically: the date and time of submission, a one-way hash of your IP address, and your browser user-agent string. We store a hash rather than the address itself; it is used only to limit automated abuse and cannot be reversed to identify you.
Browsing the rest of this site does not require you to provide any personal information.
2. Why we collect it
- To answer your inquiry and continue the correspondence.
- To keep a record of research and partnership requests received by the institute.
- To detect and block automated form abuse.
We do not use this information for marketing, and we do not sell or rent it.
3. Legal basis and your right to refuse
We collect this information with your consent, given via the checkbox on the contact form. You may decline. If you do, we will not be able to receive or answer your message through the form — you can email us directly instead at drlee@kookmin.ac.kr.
4. How long we keep it
- Inquiry records: 3 years from the date of receipt, then deleted.
- Abuse-prevention data (IP hash, user agent): 1 year, then deleted.
Where a separate law requires a longer retention period, that period applies to the records concerned.
5. Sharing with third parties
We do not provide personal information to third parties except where you have consented or a law requires it. We do use the following processors to operate the site:
- Neon (database hosting) — stores inquiry records. Region: TO BE CONFIRMED.
- Vercel (application hosting and file storage) — serves the site and stores publication files.
- Resend (email delivery) — forwards a copy of your inquiry to the KEI mailbox, where email notification is enabled.
Because these providers may process data outside Korea, an overseas-transfer notice under PIPA art. 28-8 must be completed here once the regions and contract terms are confirmed. TO BE CONFIRMED.
6. Cookies and analytics
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. A session cookie is set only for staff who sign in to the administration area. If web analytics are added later, this section — and the consent mechanism — must be updated first.
7. Your rights
You may at any time request access to, correction of, deletion of, or suspension of processing of your personal information. Send the request to drlee@kookmin.ac.kr. We will respond without undue delay. You may also act through a legal representative or authorised agent.
8. How we protect it
- Traffic to this site is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
- Administrative access is restricted to named accounts with individual passwords, stored only as bcrypt hashes.
- Access to inquiry records is limited to staff who need it to answer the message.
9. Privacy officer
Officer: Woo Jin Lee
Email: drlee@kookmin.ac.kr

10. Remedies
If you are not satisfied with our response you may contact the Personal Information Dispute Mediation Committee (kopico.go.kr, 1833-6972), the Korea Internet & Security Agency Privacy Complaint Centre (privacy.kisa.or.kr, 118), the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office, or the National Police Agency Cyber Bureau.
11. Changes to this policy
Any change will be posted on this page at least seven days before it takes effect, and the effective date above will be updated.
